Tadafusa was founded in 1948 by Sone Torasaburo in Sanjo Japan. Today they still carry on the same hand forged craftmanship they started with, offering high quality handmade items at a great value. Their workshop is open to the public most days, inviting people to learn about the history and future of Sanjo craftmanship.
This series is hand forged from SLD semi stainless tool steel, laminated in a soft stainless cladding. SLD, though considered semi stainless, is quite easy to care for and very comparable to stainless in terms of upkeep. It has a high carbon content and high hardness (~64hrc) comparable to that of purer carbon steels. SLD is praised for great edge retention and good durability despite its hardness. The blade face is finished black with hammered tsuchime patterns. These come fitted with octagonal bocote and horn ferrule handles.
