Halcyon Forge 26c3 Honyaki Petty 185mm Missouri Sycamore

Joseph Schrum of Halcyon Forge is an American Bladesmith living in Missouri. One of my all time favorite makers worldwide for the character, uniqueness and well rounded performance. Joe loves making all sorts of pattern welded steels and tries to use natural, reclaimed materials as much as possible.

This blade was forged from a single piece of 26c3 high carbon steel. The blade is differentially hardened "honyaki" with loads of visible activity happening in the steel. This process allows the blade to be hardened higher near the cutting edge while staying softer inside the hamon for strength. The blade is satin finished with a smokey hamon polish. The oval handle is made from Missouri Sycamore and whitetail antler ferrule.
