Kawamura Hamono was founded in 1926 in Sakai. Kikumori is praised for their beautiful craftsmanship utilizing traditional techniques specific to their region. This series is forged by Master Nakagawa from SPG STRIX stainless steel with raindrop damascus. SPG Strix is a new powdered steel made by Takefu Steel Co made to out perform conventional powdered stainless and improve on the sharpening feel of the steel. You should expect a similar sharpness, edge retention and sharpenability to that of purer high hardness carbon steel, with the ease of maintenance of stainless. The handle is made from Ebony wood and fitted with buffalo horn.
