Dakota Thornton is a Denver based chef and part time bladesmith. As an avid Japanese knife collector and user, he has had long experience in the understandings of Japanese kitchen knife geometry and how they function. This experience he had gained through use, contributes to the designs in his knives.
Gichi-aya'aa is the Ojibwe native word for "elder" or "great being" often used to refer to old groves of trees. They believed the Gichi-aya'aa groves were more than tree but teachers who taught wisdom to the generations.
