Ryusen Hamono is located in Echizen, Japan and was founded over 70 years ago. Third generation leader Taiji Masutani and family continue to create beautiful and luxurious blades adored worldwide. The Tanganryu series is forged from VG-10 core steel heat treated to 60hrc, laminated in 67 layer damascus and a hammered finish on the blades surface. The finishing work on this series is absolutely top notch with every surface accounted for and polished. The handle is a hybrid style with a weighted feel like a western handle but with japanese geometry, giving the blade a very balanced feel. The handle material is black micarta which is extremely durable and very easy to care for.
