The Takamura R2 Migaki series is a great display of affordable high quality blades. These knives are forged from R2 steel and wrapped in a stainless clad. R2 steel is known for taking a very sharp edge and holding it for a long time. The details and finish on all of Takamura-san's blades are very clean. Very thin "laser" style grind guarantees high performance for the entire life of the blade.
