Kawamura Hamono was founded in 1926 in Sakai. Kikumori is praised for their beautiful craftsmanship utilizing traditional techniques specific to their region. Sakai Kikumori Kikuzuki is made from Shirogami #2 steel core and cladded in iron by Yoshikazu Tanaka. The blade is hand finished with a smooth migaki finish running lengthwise and a kasumi finish to distinguish the separation between steels. The handle is octagonal hoo wood with horn ferrule.
